The South Jefferson Central School District has a vacancy for a tenure-track, 11-month High School Assistant Principal starting as soon as possible. Administrative certification required (SAS or SBL). 1. Assisting in the administration and supervision of programs, services and facilities of the school.
2. Assisting in the planning, coordination, implementation and improvement of the secondary education program at a building level as well as the district-wide athletic program.
3. Assisting in the evaluation of faculty and staff members.
4. Assisting with the orientation and in-service for all new building personnel.
5. Assisting with the orientation of new students and parents.
6. Coordinating building and facility usage.
7. Enforcing all provisions of education law and policies of the Board of Education related to the management of the school.
8. Attending professional meetings and conferences that pertain to the position, at the principal’s request.
9. Performing any additional duties assigned by the Building Principal, while administering and supervising all activities in his/her absence.
Qualifications:
· Successful candidates must currently hold NYS certification as a School Administrator: SAS or SBL. Previous administrative experience preferred.
· Must have:
· A clear educational philosophy including appropriate classroom/student management strategies and restorative practices
· Thorough understanding of school operations
· Secondary classroom and/or administration experience
· Experience with implementing secondary-level programs
· Understanding of NYS learning standards, assessments, and graduation requirements
· Ability to coordinate building/campus activities
· Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
· Ability to implement policy and procedures
· Ability to interpret data
· Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
